The Marys Peak Chapter of the Sierra Club will sponsor a panel discussion on solar energy next week.
The free event will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.
Titled “Sol Power: Community Energy Resilience,” it’s the fourth in a series of local climate change conversations sponsored by the environmental group.
Several leaders in the local solar power movement will talk about how this green power technology can help make the community more sustainable.
Julie Williams of Seeds for the Sol will explain how her nonprofit lets investors cash in on solar power tax credits while helping homeowners cover the upfront costs of installing solar panels.
Tax incentives for solar system installation will be discussed by James Reismiller of Abundant Solar, Matthew Henderson of Benton Electric and Laura Uhler of Solar Ki.
And Dan Orzech of PowerUp Development will talk about community solar projects and a new state law that makes them easier to do.
